Thirty-one ChildFund leaders, representing all areas of our global operations recently learned the power of Humaway Business StoryTelling, offered by Judy Rosemarin of Sense-Able Strategies, in an effective one-day workshop at our Global Planning and Leadership conference. Our goals were to help our leaders meaningfully communicate our operational plans and to make our strategy come alive for our organization.

Judy’s style was clear, supportive, engaging, and she helped each leader quickly understand and personally experience the difference between what sticks in a listener’s mind and what doesn’t. Every participant had ample time to learn and get feedback from others, listen to others’ stories and practice selecting, crafting and telling their own stories. They learned how to use intention to choose the right story for the right person at the right time.

Another part of the workshop’s success was Judy’s effort to understand our business, customize the program for our context, and enter with a tremendous amount of respect for what was essentially a group of strangers. She also sincerely invited feedback that allowed her to make the course as successful as possible for us – up to and during the actual workshop itself.

We believe that when leaders tell a story that illustrates our plans, sharing these stories will help their teams better understand the business rationale behind them. It will make the strategy more approachable. And that will create greater engagement as a result.
